Securities brokerage industry
Article Abstract:
An anticipated slowdown in trading and lower underwriting levels have lead to decreased profits in the securities brokerage industry during the 3rd qtr of 1999. A compromise financial services reform bill has been enacted by the Congress in 1999 which repeals parts of earlier bank legislation, and the securities brokerage industry is likely to benefit from this along with the insurance industry. These stocks are timely for 1999 and the year 2000, but the appreciation potential for the next three to five years is less attractive for investors.
