Article Abstract:

Corporate executives looking for higher salaries should have themselves retrenched, according to a study on Australian retrenchments. The survey monitored 855 executives after they were retrenched. More than three-quarters of these executives found new jobs with about 6% pay increase. The survey found that most executives are worth more than they realize, reduced job security limits executives' future plans, and retrenched executives usually receive improved salaries.
