Semiconductor (capital equipment)
Article Abstract:
The semiconductor capital equipment industry has seen a downturn in business in recent months due to the Asian economic crisis and problems stemming from that crisis. There is too much capacity and weaker than expected demand for capital equipment, resulting in high inventories and weak prices. Some value investors have turned their attention to these stocks, but caution is urged as a turnaround is difficult to speculate and will not happen in 1998.

Semiconductor (capital equipment)
Article Abstract:
Growth in the microchip markets have allowed the stocks in the semiconductor (capital equipment) industry to increase in value in 1998, but future growth is expected to be marginal. New technologies and expanded capacity are the two trends that industry analysts are expected to follow in 1999. These stocks can be volatile, however, and investors need to be cautious in their selections.
