Semiconductor (capital equipment)

Article Abstract:

Conservative investors should avoid the semiconductor production equipment industry, but the more adventurous might take some risks and take an early advantage of stocks that have performed better than earnings indicate. Microchip markets dropped in 1996, and while they showed some improvement in early 1997, there should not be a great change in the last half of the year. Long-term prospects appear strong but tremendous stock price volatility and a high degree of risk should discourage conservative investors.

These stocks are expected to recover by the years 2001-2003 although they are weak in 1998.
