Slain black leader Hani buried in South Africa
Article Abstract:
African National Congress official Chris Hani, who was shot and killed on Apr 9, 1993, was buried on Apr 19, 1993, in Soweto, South Africa. Some 80,000 people attended the funeral. Conservative Party member Clive Derby-Lewis was arrested in connection with the murder.

Article Abstract:
Nearly 800 people were killed in South Africa as a result of political violence between Jul 2, 1993, and Aug 11, 1993. Some 1,000 peacekeeping troops and 2,000 police officers and military personnel have been sent to the black townships.
