Social capital and knowledge creation: Diminishing returns of the number and strength of exchange relationships

Article Abstract:

A study conducted to analyze the relationship between social capital and knowledge creation at the individual level, is presented. It was found that as relationships increased in number, returns to knowledge creation diminished, and the strength of interpersonal relations had a higher marginal effect on knowledge creation than the number of relations.

Tie and the network correlates of individual performance in knowledge-intensive work

Article Abstract:

An argument on individual in knowledge-intensive work associated with properties of both networks and ties is presented. Relationships crossing organizational boundaries, physical barriers, or hierarchical levels could provide unique information and diverse perspectives to individuals completing tasks at work.

The use of knowledge for technological innovation within diversified firms

Article Abstract:

Innovation can be cultivated in a diversified firm by searching for and transferring knowledge across divisions. It is found that the impact of an invention on subsequent technological developments can be positive through the use of interdivisional knowledge.
