Computer software and services industry

Article Abstract:

Investors considering the computer services or computer software sectors can count on many firms averaging annual gains in sales and profits over the next few years even if their stock prices dip during market turbulence. Since about 25% of the sector's sales are overseas, and many of the sectors' US customers are also focused on overseas business, problems in Asian and Russian markets will impact computer industry stocks. Investors must look for gains over a three to five-year period instead of seeking an immediate boost.

Computer software & services

Article Abstract:

Good sales and earnings have been forecast for the computer software and computer services industries in 1998, with the favorable trends in the US economy. Economic disruption from Asia is also expected to be short, though nearly one-third of the software market is overseas, and both the corporate and personal computer markets are also growing, which will increase software sales. Many of these stocks are timely for investors in 1997 and 1998.
