Spike in a growth trend

Article Abstract:

Chris O'Hanlon and chairman John McGuigan have been raising capital and changing the focus of their website development company Spike Network, prepatory to listing it on the stock market. O'Hanlon is steering the company more towards the global online youth segment and also plans joint ventures with large customers. Spike's revenue forecast for the year to June 2000 is $20.4 million, an increase of 224%, but a net loss of $5.9 million is expected for 1999-2000. After the float listing of 41.4% of the company, O'Hanlon will own 29.9% of Spike.

Many of the information technology software applications that businesses have installed are already obsolete, according to industry analyst Bob Hayward. The Internet is providing technologies that are less expensive and easier to download and use. He predicts that by 1999, 70% of business enterprise standards will be Internet-based.
