Stan Pylipow: NAA president, 1990-91
Article Abstract:
Fisher Controls International, Inc. (St. Louis, MO) senior VP and CFO Stanley R. Pylipow was elected to the presidency of the National Association of Accountants (NAA) for the 1990-91 term. Pylipow plans to stress the NAA's educational programs in order to make them relevant to the current needs of employers and managerial accountants. Pylipow wants input from employers, specifically on what programs they need and how much they are willing to pay for them before designing new programs. Pylipow points to the Certificate in Management Accounting as an important dimension in the NAA's education program for it is a measure of competency. Pylipow cites the Education Committee's development of a career progression program as a significant step forward in managerial accountants' education.

Glen Woodson: 'grassroots president'
Article Abstract:
Glen (Woody) E. Woodson, an entrepreneur experienced in buying and selling corporations and an accountant by trade, was elected president of the National Association of Accountants (the NAA) in June 1986. Woodson, a graduate of Kent State (class of 1949), plans to increase the membership growth rate of the NAA to 5 percent per year, a major change from the association's current negative growth rate. Woodson's career and the events surrounding the corporate purchase and sale transactions with which he has been involved are described. NAA's membership problems are attributable to stricter membership requirements and higher association fees, both of which problems Woodson believes can be offset by encouraging better communication and recruitment at the grass roots level.
