Statistical power in operations management research
Article Abstract:
The importance of statistical power analysis for research in production and operations management research is studied. Statistical power shows the extent to which variance in sample data in statistical tests can be determined. High statistical power is needed to improve the probability of identifying an effect. A study of statistical tests from the 'Journal of Operations Management' shows that 60% of empirical research do not have high power levels, thereby reducing the repeatability of these tests.
