Sugar hits the spot

Article Abstract:

The recent spurt in sugar prices has brought in much-needed relief to the sugar cane growers in Queensland. The region recorded deficient rainfalls for 5 consecutive years before this season, consequently the allocations for irrigation are down, and so is the sugar production. To add to the woes, the US free-trade agreement completely avoided sugar industry but the drought weather persisting in India has created a demand for sugar, which is the reason for its price rise.
