Article Abstract:

The telecommunications equipment industry contains several stocks that are timely for 1999 and the year 2000 and several others that are poised to appreciate over the next three to five years. The wireless communications sector and the acceleration of digital television, led by Scientific-Atlanta Inc and General Instrument Corp, are two of the more positive areas of the industry in 1999. However, investors need to be selective in their choices as this industry can be volatile.
