The Office Takes Off

Article Abstract:

There is so much new office equipment being developed all the time, that many products are almost obsolete by the time they are installed, and companies face a multitude of choices when purchasing automated office equipment. The new equipment is smaller and less complicated to operate, and as employee wages continue to rise, equipment costs are falling. Computers can be used alone, or hooked up with other computers, and there are even some which respond to human speech, eliminating the need for complicated computerese. The design, production, installation, operation and maintenance of computers has created millions of jobs which did not exist a generation ago. Advances in telecommunications are also having an impact on the way businesses operate. What all this means is that executives will spend less time gathering information, and will have more time to use that information to make effective business decisions.
