The Professionally Managed Family-ruled Enterprise: Ethnic Chinese Business in Singapore
Article Abstract:
A comparison of management structure in Chinese family businesses in Singapore is presented, focusing on the influence of the Asian currency crisis in fostering changes or preserving continuity. Family rule was found to be strongest in businesses that have interested and capable offspring, that seek negative market conditions, and are not directly impacted by the state.
