Human resource management as a driving force in business strategy

Article Abstract:

Human resource management is an essential part of the strategic planning process. The notion that fragmented information and disequilibrium characterize markets is combined with a concept of emergent strategy. As a result of the combination of these elements, a situation develops in which exploiting market opportunities is encouraged. A model of strategic human resources management is developed. Human resource policies can help organizations to control the unintended aspects of their implemented strategies.

Automated manufacturing creates market opportunities

Article Abstract:

Realization of the competitive advantages of automated manufacturing technologies requires an understanding of the internal change process. The links between the manufacturing capability of an organization and its marketing strategies are illustrated by way of a case study. Functions that are often viewed as being unrelated to manufacturing must also be included in any conversion to automated production.
