The joys of scanning with new Mac color

Article Abstract:

Apple's $599 Color One Scanner 600 27 flatbed color scanner is an impressive device with excellent software and a variety of functions. Users may scan, store, edit, copy, convert and retrieve text files from the computer screen as well as print and fax with the addition of a printer and a fax modem. The 27-bit One Scanner 600 27 captures information in a single pass and displays and prints rich colors at resolutions of 300 dpi by 600 dpi, better than similarly priced competitors. The product uses a xenon bulb, which generates less heat than other types and is hence less likely to damage paper. The system's benefits are offset by a small 8.5-in by 11.5-in scanning area, which does not accomodate legal documents or longer newspaper articles. Users may employ the scanner to turn color pictures into computer files, and images scanned by the 600 27 may be imported into Adobe Photoshop or any Photoshop-compatible program.
