Article Abstract:

Security analysts gave a positive corporate earnings growth projection for the United States. Corporate profit growth is expected to increase from a rate of 6% to 8% by the end of 1998. The technology group may lead the other ten sectors which include health care and consumer services with a 29% profit growth in 1998 and a long term growth of about 21.3%. The consumer durable group is expected to post a slow growth as an effect of a growth decline in the automotive manufacturing industry.

The outlook for United States corporate earnings

Article Abstract:

US corporate earnings for 1999 will grow by 17.4% compared to 1998 levels. The forecast is based on a survey of 3,921 security analysts conducted by the Institutional Brokers Estimate System. The chances of a US economic recession remains a remote possibility due to a strong consumer demand. Despite a strong US economy, which is predicted to grow by another 19.6% in 2000, the global economy continues to post a slower growth rate from its performance in 1997.
