The positive effects of easy goals on decision quality and risk propensity in an MCPLP task

Article Abstract:

Complexity of a task affects performance differently when assuming a multiple cue probability learning paradigm (MCPLP). Accuracy in human judgments for decision making is studied in a complex MCPLP situation and results show that better performance is associated with easier goals, contrary to research findings based on simple tasks. This implies that the basic principle of performance goal setting is not effective for complex tasks unless managers put something at risk for employees.

Task-structure relationship of information systems development subunit: a congruence perspective

Article Abstract:

The not-for-profit information systems development (ISD) subunit of the information systems of 41 hospitals are analyzed. Result indicate that the task context of ISD and its structure have a congruence relationship. A distinction between the decision-making and control structures in the task solution choices of an ISD subunit is identified, supporting the contention that the task is often neglected as a factor in informnation system decision-making.
