Article Abstract:

The stocks of the tire and rubber industry do not offer short-term gains for investors, but the prospects for long term gains appear attractive. Inventory levels are high, and tire prices are lower in 1996 than in 1995. However, raw materials costs are also falling. Although the tire and rubber industry is not considered timely, analysts expect appreciation in the next few years for shares of individual companies, such as Carlisle Cos. Inc.
