Toward a revised PMBOK document

Article Abstract:

An updated version of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) document is being prepared by the PMI Standards Committee, with several parts of the update under review. The Framework section of the document has been revamped and organized into three chapters. 'Project' has been redefined as 'a temporary process undertaken to create one or a few units of a unique product or service whose attributes are progressively elaborated.' Other changes in the PMBOK document include a revision of the view of a project life cycle, among others. The previous eight knowledge areas have been retained.

The Internet as enabler of the Bell Atlantic project

Article Abstract:

Bell Atlantic is using intranet/Internet technology to standardize best practices in project management. Consistency in project management methods is critical at a time of telecommunications deregulation and mergers as well as increasing customer expectations. The easy information accessibility afforded by intranet/Internet technology makes it an ideal choice as a data repository for a loosely knit and widely dispersed network of project managers.
