Toward the development of benchmarking tools for R&D project management

Article Abstract:

A model integrating audit tools in a research and development (R&D) project management process was developed that measure the robustness of processes and presents an ideal for benchmarking. Three styles of R&D project management are identified including new products targeting a specified market, the improvement of major products to enhance the market position and the establishment of new product strategies. Benchmarking templates were also developed for the management of each style.

Developing a 'receptive' R&D environment for inward technology transfer: a case study of the chemical industry

Article Abstract:

A model for the creation of an organizational culture that fosters technology transfer show that the four main elements of internal technology transfer are awareness, association, assimilation and application. Using the model to study two chemical firms in the UK, analysis showed that successful organizations strike a balance between non-routine processes that create a receptive environment and efficient routine activities for maintaining competitiveness.

Strategies for the exploitation of intelligence capital: evidence from Hungarian Research Institutes

Article Abstract:

The staff members of four Hungarian research institutes were surveyed to determine the exploitation of intellectual capital by these organizations. Results show that most research institutes fail to capitalize on their intellectual resources. Also, spinoff firms are set up with very little funding and planning for future growth. The consultancy services offered by these spinoff firms also lack adequate marketing in Hungary and overseas.
