Breaking into Jail
Article Abstract:
Many private companies are engaging in building and managing jails. Private companies are able to do things in much less time than government can do them. Several counties have taken advantage of lease-purchase schemes that allow governments to construct and run prisons without having to impose new taxes. In the end the local government owns the property and has the advantage of a new prison facility. Many public groups oppose these financing methods. There also is opposition from people in the corrections field to private management of jails. Many public officials see it as an answer to prison overcrowding problems.

The Great Canadian Gold Rush
Article Abstract:
A major gold strike has been found in Canada at Hemlo. Although the area had been explored and dismissed in the past, Don McKinnon was intrigued enough at the early work and rumors to seek out financing to explore the area. Corona Resources agreed to the cash outlay for the project. Since then several hundred million tons of gold have been located. This has sent the prices of stocks of companies involved soaring. Also it has created a gold rush of prospectors into the area to develop any open area even remotely near Hemlo. The possibilities of law suits over the area are good.
