Turning new product development into a continuous learning process

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers are finding it difficult to follow methodical step-by-step product development approaches because of the short life cycles of new products and changing consumer needs. In light of this, a new continuous, iterative, learning process-centered product development model has been developed. Called the value proposition process (VPP), the model seeks to establish continuous learning practices aimed at identifying the certainty of knowledge used for decision-making, building consensus and concentrating on adding value.

Measuring development performance in the electronics industry

Article Abstract:

The first dwells on productivity while the second deals with the processes' quality. While the computer industry gives attention to design, the systems industry focuses on performance. However, commercial success in both industries is brought about by development productivity.
