The Sprint Digital Link from AirPrime goes for around $200 and enables your hand-held to make voice calls and runs on the widespread CDMA phone system. The Xircom SpringPort Wireless Ethernet Module for $299 allows th Visor to access the Wi-Fi wireless local networks used to distribute high-speed Web connections.

Two new Sony designs: a shutterbug's laptop and a stylish desktop

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp. will introduce two innovative new personal computers, one a desktop and one a laptop. The new laptop is called the Sony Vaio C1X PictureBook and is about the size of a hardcover book. The computer features a built-in digital camera mounted above the screen that is able to capture pictures of the screen, which can then be saved to a disk or e-mailed. The model also features built-in image capture-and-editing software that allows recording of video clips, with audio, that can also be saved or e-mailed. The PictureBook comes with a 266 MHz Pentium processor, 64 megabytes of memory and built-in 56K modem. The desktop model, called the Vaio Slimtop, is a very small personal computer made from laptop components. It features an excellent flat-panel screen, nice keyboard and special digital-screen port. The Slimtop contains a 400 MHz Pentium II processor, 64 megabytes of memory, 6.4-gigabyte hard drive and 56K modem. Both models cost around $2,300 and will be available in March.
