Two suicide bombings in Israel kill 27; Hamas claims revenge as motive

Suicide bombings in West Jerusalem and Ashkelon, Israel, on Feb 25, 1996, killed 27 people. The suicide bombers were retaliating the Jan 1996 death of a Hamas bomb expert, Yahya Ayyash. The bombings could affect public opinion about the peace talks and results of the upcoming elections in Israel.

Serial bombings suspect detained in Montana

The FBI arrested Kaczynski, 53, on Apr 3, 1996, at a remote cabin in Montana. He is suspected of being the Unabomber, but has so far only been charged with one count of possessing bomb-making materials. Authorities were tipped off to his possible involvement by Kaczynski's brother David.
