U.S. will sue drug maker over pricing; antitrust filing to cite 2 of Mylan's generics

Article Abstract:

Physicians write over 21 million prescriptions per year for two of the generic drugs that Pittsburgh-based Mylan Laboratories makes. The company has been charged by the FTC with trying to eliminate competition by holding an illegal agreement with a raw materials supplier. The agency will seek a fine of $120 million in connection with the charges. Ten states are filing similar lawsuits against the company. The generic drugs involved are used to treat anxiety.

On-line services in Europe are just starting to take off. Compared to America's fascination with electronic shopping, Europe has barely dabbled in the wonderful World Wide Web. Many Europeans, like Americans in the beginning, are fearsome of buying products over the Web, as well as buying products using their credit cards, but the trend is finally starting to take off and American companies like IBM and Cisco Systems are ready to take advantage of it.
