The nature of information and overconfidence on venture capitalists' decision making

Article Abstract:

A study of decision making processes by venture capitalists is presented. It is shown that venture capitalists tend to be overconfident and that such overconfidence has a negative impact on accurate decision making.

The influence of experience on the reliability of the decision making process of a venture capitalist is discussed. Moderately experienced venture capitalists make the most effective decisions because they are neither too experienced nor too inexperienced.
