Wendy's 'Recipe' Includes Management Info and Cost Control

Article Abstract:

RECIPE is a restaurant management information system that has been installed at the Wendy's franchise operations. It provides for the collection of data at the point of sale, electronic polling of stores, increase of computer power as needed and software that provides for information and accounting management needs. Information is collected on NCR 250 electronic sales terminals and transfered to an NCR 1-8271 minicomputer via telephone lines. RECIPE provides managers with individual printouts that detail the sales activities for their outlets. This system has resulted in a one per cent savings on operating costs.

Companies implementing tuition programs for their employees are provided tax incentives. This, however, is not the only reason why such programs contribute to the growth of companies. According to a survey conducted by The Bureau of National Affairs Inc and HRNews, tuition programs are crucial to the development of human resources. Respondents contend that the programs also promote career advancement and instill commitment among the workers.

Apple Reduces Cost of Audio Visuals

Article Abstract:

More businesses are using audio visual aids in shows and presentations. Multi-imaging is an intricate process, but now there are companies which will prepare presentations using the Apple II. The procedures are determined by the computer, then put on cassette or reel-to-reel tape. Having the computer present is not always necessary. The system has been in Australia since 1981.
