What It Really Means to Be Ergonomic

Article Abstract:

An increase in the number of compensatory awards given to workers who claim their injuries are due to a negligent work environment is giving impetus to new office furniture installations. These are not always ergonomically correct. The addition of computers in the office space can cause crowding and discomfort. Many problems can be avoided by consulting suppliers before the installation of furnishings and equipment. Proper work habits and rest periods can alleviate stress problems.

Taxation Office VDT Desk Wins Award

Article Abstract:

Worker compensation can be awarded for problems related to the use of VDTs in six states in the United States. The Taxation Office in Australia awards $1.6 million compensation per year to operators. Omni Office Furniture System received an award from the Industrial Design Council of Australia for its VDT desk labeled DATAX which was designed specifically for the Taxation Office. The screen can be raised, lowered, turned or tilted. The accompanying chair is also fully adjustable.
