Article Abstract:
US economic growth slowed dramatically during the first half of 1995 despite its strong performance in 1994. Economists believe this can be attributed largely to rapid manufacturing and retailing inventory growth, which significantly outpaced sales as consumers reduced purchases. However, they predict that economic activity and consumer spending will eventually pick up again and companies will be able to cut inventories to more manageable levels.

Article Abstract:
Several issues on the economy, financial markets and legislative budget cuts are discussed. On the main, most Americans are anxious about the possible inflation that might result from such budget cuts which, in turn, could lead to another recession. It would be better if government budgets for all programs be maintained at their levels, instead of selecting only a few allocations to be reduced.

Article Abstract:
A freeze on government spending in real terms is needed to achieve a balance in the US federal budget. Within a seven-year period, such an approach will yield a balanced budget without unfairly encumbering any group or imposing any tax hikes. Adjusting the consumer price index to reduce the budget deficit would only shift the burden to the aged and the poor.
