A blow for women
Article Abstract:
India and China are two countries where women are outnumbered by men, and girls in India do not always have equal access to medicine and food. There has been a move to reserve a third of the places in state assemblies and parliament for women, but these reservations would not be long-term and it is doubtful that women would benefit. Wives and daughters of political bosses could be used in place of their husbands, and there is little scope to allow women to develop political strength.
