Bank robberies have become more frequent in the greater area of Los Angeles, CA, for several reasons. The great number of freeways facilitate getaways, and numerous bank branches offer opportunity to robbers. The large amount of gang activity in the LA region is also to blame.

Swiss cure
Article Abstract:
CS Holding outbid Union Bank of Switzerland for that country's fifth-largest bank, Swiss Volksbank. The holding company paid $1.1 billion for the bank, which was having financial problems due to many bad loans. Branches will be closed and staff cut drastically.
