A new plant of Saint-Gobain
Article Abstract:
Saint-Gobain Sklo CR (SGS) (Prague, Czech Republic), construction glass manufacturer and distributor, will extend its activities in the Czech Republic. The company commissioned a new plant and an administration building in Prague in 1998. The plant, which produces construction and decorative glass, has 40 employees. SGS is owned the largest worldwide glass products supplier Saint-Gobain (SG) (France). The production of the plant will complete SG's selling and production construction glass network in the Czech Republic. The network also includes Izolas (Brno, Czech Republic) and Veha (Ostrava, Czech Republic). SG bought the largest Czech glass fibre manufacturer Vertex (Litomysl, Czech Republic) in 1998. SG will have about 2,200 employees and will sell goods worth more than 4 bil Kc per year in the Czech Republic after the confirmation of the purchase by the Czech Anti-monopoly Office. Then, SG will become the largest French investor in the Czech Republic.

AMP's new production plant in Kurim
Article Abstract:
AMP Global Automotive Division (Bensheim, Germany), car division of AMP Incorporated (Harrisburg, Pensylvania, US), has built a new plant in Kurim, the Czech Republic. The investment costs on the project amounted to 21 mil USD. The production plant was commissioned at the beginning of June 1998. The plant produces connector systems, cable units and sets mainly for the car industry. The plant has 750 employees. Its production is intended for AMP's consumers in the Czech Republic and other Eastern-European countries. The firm plans to extend its production and to implement further production technology in the Czech Republic shortly.

Izolas has a new production plant

Izolas (Brno, Czech Republic), building glass manufacturer, commissioned a new plant in Brno-Horni Herspice on 03 May 2000. The new hall is equipped with the most modern technology. The plant manufactures quality glass and mirrors intended for architecture, civil engineering, interiors and furniture. Izolas has been a part of the company group Saint-Gobain since 1997.
