A red giant stirs
Article Abstract:

Democracy?
Article Abstract:
Democracy has spread in western countries, though has also been found in non-western societies. Democracy emerged in Europe at the end of the 18th century, together with the idea of the rights of man. Legal systems have developed over time, with English common law, and the mainland European civil law being two dominant models. The two models have become less separate over time. There is lack of access to legal protection in many poorer countries, as well as lack of property rights.
