A striking modern facade in collegiate Edinburgh
Article Abstract:
Edinburgh, Scotland's Empire Theatre has been rennovated and enlarged to become an international standard opera house. The Festival Theatre has a modern curved glass frontage which makes the building open and inviting. The interior has a traditional auditorium based on the Art Deco design of the original theatre. An enlarged stage and backstage facilities gives the capacity for the largest companies. The project was a joint venture between the City Council and the private sector and may encourage further redevelopment in the south side area of the city.
