There have been a number of scams thoughout history, such as the raising of funds by the Chruch through the sale of pardons, and these scams did not lessen with the Age of Reason. The South Sea Bubble was a financial scam at the start of the 18th century. The year 2000 computer adjustment problem also involves a scam, since the people who are being paid large sums to tackle the problem are from the industry that caused it in the first place, and are sometimes even the same people.

Article Abstract:

A penal court in Italy ruled on the question of art. Florence's renaissance square, Piazza della Signoria was re-paved with grey stone. This enraged the people and resulted in a trial and sentencing (suspended) for the Director-General of Culture and other officials.
