By the end of this article I'll be calling myself an urban designer too

Article Abstract:

The role of the architect is increasingly encroached on by planners, consultants and technical specialists during the past 15 years from 2005, as there is a trend within architectural practices to try to specialize between masterplanning and individual building design. This new focus on urban design is making it possible for architects to re-engage with the wider political and economic sphere of the built environment.

A trip down memory lane

Article Abstract:

In the debate about urban memory, the flux of community is reinterpreted, as its fixation--community is a thing to be remembered and recreated. The main problem with the urban debate is that our individualized responses to places and 'objets trouves' are being squeezed into a policy framework that is seeking to generate an intangible urban feel-good factor.
