Ahold to settle shareholder suit for $1.1 billion

Ahold N.V. of the Netherlands is to pay $1.1 billion (945 million Euros) to shareholders as penalty in an accounting scandal. An 1 billion Euros profit overstatement in the United States food industry unit was discovered in 2003.
