Albanian angst

The peaceful re-integration of Kosovo into Yugoslavia, or its independence, are seen as the only two options for stability in the aftermath of the Balkan war. Albanians in Kosovo are reluctant to change national affiliation and want equality in jobs and representation.

The European powers should formulate a coordinated policy towards post-communist Albania to help end the chaotic lawlessness that besets that nation. To restore a semblance of the rule of law, the European powers must find a credible alternative to Pres Sali Berisha.
