Another Osprey down

Article Abstract:

A Bell-Boeing MV-22 Osprey crashed on Dec 11, 2000 during a night training mission near Jacksonville, NC, killing all four crew. As a result, the eight remaining MV-22s in US Marine Corps (USMC) service were immediately grounded. Further, the Defense Dept has indefinitely postponed a plan on moving to initial full-rate production of the aircraft. The accident is third in the Osprey program, and the second fatal crash since the MV-22 entered USMC service.
