At the double

Article Abstract:

There are considerable variations among industrialized countries in policies relating to maternity leave and childcare provision. In contrast, the majority of mothers in the US return to work very soon after the birth of their child, and the quality of childcare provision can vary greatly. It is still quite common in Europe for women to remain at home with their children, but this does not necessarily mean that they are happier than working women.
