Article Abstract:

Analysts believed that the failure of Japanese brokers Yamaichi Securities, due to an agency junk-bond rating, would herald the development of more market control in the Japanese financial sector. However, Japanese financial and political authorities continue to collaborate to conceal financial problems. Finance Minister Hiroshi Mitsuzuka appears to support a reduction in government intervention, but other politicians are distancing themselves from major reforms.

Saudis buy into UBL

Article Abstract:

The government of Pakistan has sold a 26% share in United Bank Limited (UBL), a financial institution, to the Basharahil group of Saudi Arabia. The Basharahil group had to make a committment not to layoff any staff for one year and not to make asset sales for three years.
