Automation, AI and OR: in search of the synergy and publication priorities

Article Abstract:

The key areas of synergy between artificial intelligence (AI), automation and Operations Research (OR) were analyzed to determine the role of OR and AI in the life cycle of automation technologies. Analysis of the synergy between AI, OR and automation indicated the need for the development of hybrid models that can be applied for automation studies. Macro measures of synergy are also important to determine the impact of automation on business process redesign and reengineering studies using flexible modeling tools.

Applying a modified coefficient reduction method to a dynamic production scheduling model

Article Abstract:

A model has been developed for short runs in processing industries, for decisions on both capacity and supplies, and using the Bradley preprocessing approach, though adapted. Preprocessing of a thirteen period situation with variable numbering 39, takes some nine minutes, a performance which can be speeded up by including losses in production. The approach performed four times better than the first Bradley model, in terms of variables that can be processed.
