Avec Cyber-TV, Belgacom saute une r volution
Article Abstract:
Taking into account the fact that most homes have a television set, whilst only 10% of Europeans are connected to the Internet, Belgacom is planning to launch the first European Cyber-TV, available in the shops from February 1998. The Cyber-TV is a combination of Internet and television and offers all on-line interactive operations including e-mail and e-shopping. It will retail in Belgium at approximately BFr 15,000, compared to BFr 59,000 for an average PC. Belgacom will also offer a BFr 500 a month hire agreement, and expects 50,000 users by the end of 1999. The Cyber-TV was originally conceived in the US by NCI and ACER, where it has seen a huge success. NCI now foresees the launch of its product onto other European markets.
