BADS makes the switch to smoother tactical area communications

Article Abstract:

British Aerospace Defence Systems has launched two new equipment for future tactical area communications systems. The first device is the applique Mark II cell-hardening unit which allow commercial ATM switches to function over degraded military trunk or satcom links. The second device called the Sentinel scaleable ISDN-based circuit switch which has potential applications in the both the UK Army's future communications system and Theatre Wide-Area Communications Network programs.

UWB systems are characterized by very high fractional bandwidth and short-duration baseband pulses and high range resolution. Companies that have received contract offers to supply and develop UWB systems include Time Domain Inc, Multispectral Solutions Inc, Rockwell Collins and Racal Communications Inc.
