BIFR GIVES DUNLOP SIX MONTHS TO COMPLETE REVAMP
Article Abstract:
The Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) has said that the formulation of a rehabilitation programme for the sick Dunlop India Limited by December 30, 1998. This decision has shocked the West Bengal government and the Dunlop management, as neither are able to explain why submission and clearance of a revival package should take such a long time. The state government is drawing up its revival plan independently while Dunlop has been asked to submit its revival plans to the Industrial Development Bank of India, within the next three weeks. BIFR ADMITS DUNLOP INTO SICA, IDBI CARE
Article Abstract:
Despite opposition from few banks and financial institutions, the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) has declared Dunlop India Limited as a sick company under the Sick Industries Companies Act (Sica). The operating agency for the revival of the company will be the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI). BIFR has brought Dunlop under its net, under section 17 (3) of Sica and not under 17 (2) as sought by the company. (gsh)
