Rs850-CR INDIAN ARM IN THE MAKING

The merger between Ciba Speciality Chemicals and Clariant of Switzerland may result in the formation of Rs850 crore Indian arm involving the merger of Ciba, Clariant and Colour-Chem India. The merged entity will have interests in dyes, pigments, additives, polymers, consumer care products, leather and paper chemicals, masterbatches, surfactants, cellulose, ethers and polymerisates. Sources say that a future conflict may arise as Ciba has two joint ventures with Indian Dyestuff Industries for pigments and textile dyes. (khr)
