Bayer may be forced to sweeten Schering offer

Bayer AG of Germany may have to sweeten its acquisition offer for Schering AG also of Germany, as spurned rival Merck KGaA has bought a large stake in Schering AG. Pharmaceutical company Bayer AG owns control of 61.25 percent of Schering AG stock.
