Beached sandals create flip-flop flap in Australia
Article Abstract:
The thong business is creating a rift between Australia and Indonesia. The thongs, a type of footwear also called flip-flops, are exported by Indonesians to Australia. The problem lies on the large number of thongs that are washing up on Australia's Cocos and North Keeling Islands. Australian Sen. Julian McGauran says the Indonesian exporters are endangering wildlife on the islands. Although other politicians agree with McGauran, they believe that Indonesia should not take all the blame because a number of thongs bear Japanese and Taiwanese writing.

US-based Chubb Corp Senior VP in charge of Greater China claims it appears to be less difficult to gain access to key government officials if a company is based in China.
