Berets, fezes and covers

Fezko (Strakonice, Czech Republic), textile firm, expects a profit of 10 mil Kc in 1999 compared to a loss of 50 mil Kc in 1998. About 66% of the firm's total production is represented by textiles for the interiors of means of transport. The rest of the company's production is represented by headgear including berets, caps and fezes. Fezko produces 0.75-1 mil pieces of headgear per year in four-year cycles. The company produced record 4.65 mil pieces of headgear in 1997. The firm has stopped its wool fabric production and is preparing the sale of its artificial fur production plant within restructuring. Fezko decreased the number of its employees by 107 during the first half of 1998 compared to the former 1,400 employees. The firm expended nearly 60 mil Kc on its restructuring, the drop of the number of employees, the transfer of manufacturing and rectifying items for receivables and goods on stock. Fezko has a stock of 477.2 mil Kc and a 71% stake held by Stark (Prague, Czech Republic), which is supported by a group of European and US investors.

Cement Hranice and Cemos Ostrava merge

Article Abstract:

Cement Hranice (CH) (Hranice na Morave, Czech Republic) and Cemos (Ostrava, Czech Republic), cement companies, are merging. After the merger is completed, CH will have a stock of 1.705 bil Kc. CH raised its net profit by 23.3% to 257.8 mil Kc in 1998 compared to 1997. Its total 1998 revenues amounted to 1.7 bil Kc. About 23% of the firm's 1998 proceeds were generated by exports. CH, which lowered its stock from 1.7 bil Kc to 850 mil Kc in 1998, has more than a 90% stake held by Dyckerhoff Zement International (Germany).
